PRODUCT REVIEW - Annie's Gluten Free Mac 'N Cheese

A big blue box?? How appropriate!! Many of you remember the routine from your childhood: boil the pasta, drain, stir in milk butter and cheese powder. Classic. Now there's a gluten free version for you to enjoy! Check out Annie's Gluten Free Rice Pasta & Cheddar.

The concept is the same, but the big difference is the pasta is rice pasta. The shape of the pasta is a little different than traditional mac, it's longer and less elbow-y shaped. Not a big deal. Everything else is the same.

At first, I was really excited, especially with the pasta. When I was boiling it, it wasn't getting all goopey and stuck together like a lot of rice pasta does. Even the 2nd day the pasta was nice and firm, not like other mushy brands.

But even though the pasta has great texture, I was a little disappointed with the cheesey-ness of the sauce. I even added extra cheddar cheese!! But, I've always felt that way about the old Kraft mac 'n cheese, so this is nothing new.

The only other slightly weird thing about this mix is the pasta seemed to have a weird, almost bumpy texture on the outside of it. The 2nd day, this seemed to be gone. I think I may have undercooked the pasta slightly.

Overall, I think this would be great meal for gluten free kids or gluten free kids-at-heart! Be careful, though, it does contain dairy.

Have you tried this product? Let me know what you think!
