I'm not sure if it's taboo to talk about a trip to the hospital, but in my opinion, you can never be too prepared. And plus, there are many other reasons to visit the hospital besides some crazy freak accident: there's having a baby, cosmetic surgery, donating an organ to someone in need.... see, plenty of joyous reasons!!
I was poking around my favorite website Gluten.net, and I found this amazing 6 page document published by the Gluten Intolerance Group you can bring to the hospital, distribute to the various staff, and help them help you with a gluten free stay.
There's a page for:
Health Care Professionals
Nursing Staff
Pharmacy Staff
Hospital Dietician (probably the most important)
What I really like about this document is that it uses more medical-y language than I'm used to, so it must be PERFECT for medical staff.
Here's the link for the document. Please print out a copy and keep in your purse (or man purse) in case of emergencies.
